Online Casinos Shunted
Land gambling is quickly becoming increasingly appealing to
US states that are suffering from some serious budget shortages thanks to the
current economic recession. It’s actually pretty interesting though that some
states are considering expanding land gambling interests to raise more funds
despite the fact that land casinos all over the US are also reporting some
really tough times right now as more and more US gamblers stay home from the
land venues and instead head online. The lucrative prospects of legalized and
regulated online casino gambling isn’t on the main agenda yet and it’s a bit
puzzling as to why.
If any of the individual states came on board with the efforts to reverse the
UIGEA and instead benefit from the billions of annual revenue to be made from
online casinos than it would seriously expedite the process of repealing the
controversial Bush administration-era legislation. The economic situation is
getting pretty desperate in the US and several US states such as Maryland,
Texas, Kentucky, Nebraska and others are experiencing campaigns for an expansion
in state land gambling interests. This would mean everything from adding more
land casinos to increasing the number of slots machines available at slots
parlors and racetracks and tribal gaming venues.
Although land gambling is not nearly as lucrative as online casinos, there is
still potential revenue sources for state governments choosing to go down the
land gambling route. But expanding land gambling would really only provide a
small stop-gap in the funding problems since land venues are experiencing such a
hard hit from the recession as well.
