Paving the Way: 1
Most of the Asian market does not yet allow citizens access to the online casino
gambling industry. China in particular has a history of blocking specific
internet content from its population in efforts to not only control the behavior
of its citizens but to also control the dissemination of information. As the
internet, though, becomes more powerful the blocking of content and Web based
industries is becoming increasingly difficult. With this in mind, the Chinese
government is looking for ways to control the influx on new internet
technologies. Specifically, a new deal with Paynova now gives Western vendors a
way to conduct online and virtual business with the Chinese market – though this
even more specifically does not include internet casinos.
Paynova landed this lucrative deal through a lot of hard work over the past more
than three years. The company was involved in extensive negotiations with the
Chinese government as well as with Chinese financial institutions. A chief
concern for the government remains the introduction of online casino gambling to
the Asian market. The Paynova payment processing solutions are used throughout
the United States, the UK, and Europe for internet business to successfully
process payments from consumers in other countries.
One of the limitations of the online transactions remains that Paynova has no
control over how Western vendors will distribute goods and services by post.
Rather the services will likely be primarily used by internet based companies
that provide virtual or online based services and goods – the transmission of
information as well as virtual products. |
