Welcoming French Opening
The European online caisno gambling industry is welcoming the opening of the
French market and some of the top names in the market are seeing this licensing
period as a prime way to legally enter into what will be one of the more
lucrative European internet gambling markets. France has announced compliance
with the European Commission’s requests for an end to the state monopoly on
online casinos and internet betting and as such the foreign gambling companies
are now preparing themselves for entry into this market. For Intralot, the
decision to vie for a French license was easy – the company already has a strong
name, brand, and reputation in the industry and the potential revenue in the
French market is much to enticing to pass up.
Intralot is based out of Greece and operates as a software and games development
company for the online casino gambling industry. Additionally, Intralot is a
growing name in the money and payment processing market. Intralot feels that
there is no real reason why the company would not receive a French license.
Intralot is specifically seeking one of the finite licenses that will be issued
for the horserace and sportsbetting industry.
Like Italy now, the French betting and gambling market will be open to foreign
online casinos, but only via licensing and then only in some very specific
sectors of the market. Although many foreign gaming companies would undoubtedly
prefer a fully open French gaming market this latest action is a definite step
in the right direction for a country that was previously adamantly in support of
protectionist legislation that advocated a state-run government monopoly. |
