US Prohibition Fails Again: 2

There are two aspects that are pretty troubling though about it all – the fact that the market is largely unregulated right now and operates under the government’s radar by and large, and also that because the online caisno gambling industry is operating outside of the US government’s control the industry is not as safe as it could be and the US government is loosing out on billions of dollars it could collect in tax revenues if the internet gambling industry were properly regulated.

There have been a lot of efforts over the past couple of years to alter the US government’s position on internet gambling – the Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative is pressing for new legislation because of the danger that US online casino gamblers are facing as a result of this underground market. The fact of the matter is, the prohibition hasn’t worked in the past and few analysts believe that prohibition type legislation on accessing the online casinos will prove very effective in the long run.

The new statistics that indicate that gambling at the online casinos may increase by as much as 22 percent is a really startling realization that the US government really needs to readdress this troubling issue and resolve the current problems facing the internet gambling industry. "The current ban on Internet gambling has proved to be a failure as millions of Americans continue to gamble online each day," notes a spokesperson for the SSIGI, Jeffery Sandman. And with a new administration now in place the online gambling industry is clamoring even louder for some new policies and regulations tat will better protect players.
