A Close Call
Land and online casino gamblers watching the conclusion of the 2009 WPT Los
Angeles Poker Classic event were likely all holding their breaths as it came
down to a pretty close finish to the event. At the final table of this poker
event were some of the biggest names from the land and online casino poker
gambling industry – from Chis Ferguson to Cornel Andrew Cimpan, there was a lot
of talented competition vying for the title and the top monies. The WPT brand is
nearly as large as the World Series of Poker – gamblers from all over the world
flock to locations of this exciting poker tour when it is in their region. And
like the WSOP, a win at the WPT is pretty well respected – although not yet
quite tops winning the WSOP in both the land and online casino poker gambling
industries…it’s still the supreme event.
But that was no concern for Cimpan as he took home the top title at the LA event
and a cool $1,686,760. Cipman had some stiff competition from other players.
With the expansion and popularity of the online casinos, poker players are able
to spend free time and down time practicing and honing their skills for the next
major poker tourneys – this means that the poker tournaments are a whole new
ball game for the industry. Players are able to exponentially increase their
skills and poker playing abilities by practicing online and participating in
some of the major casino poker tourneys at sites like Full Tilt, Poker Stars,
and others.
As for the rest of the LA WPT event, Cipman took home first prize and coming up
second was Binh Nguyen who has nothing to be ashamed about – he game Cimpan a
run for his money and really made those final hands riveting…it truly was
anyone’s game for a good while of the final hands. |
