Positioning for Spanish Market
The European Commission has really been focusing hard on the equalization of the
online casino gambling industry throughout Europe –this means a slew of
negotiations and threats to companies that operated a closed gaming market or
even gaming monopolies. As the results of negotiations come to fruition several
countries are slowly altering their previously restrictive gambling laws to
allow licensed foreign competition. With that in mind, the major online casino
gambling group William Hill signed a contract earlier this year with Codere to
offer sports betting to the Spanish market. Buyers remorse set in just a bit for
the gambling company and Will Hill was rumored to be dissolving the partnership
and the outcome of the partnership, Victoria Apuestas.
Although there were many in the industry who assumed that Apuestas was finished
and over with because of Will Hill’s desire to extricate itself from the Spanish
facing land and online casino betting group, the latest news indicates that
Apuestas has inked a new deal with Grupo Rubio. The Grupo Rubio deal will
specifically allow the sports betting company the opportunity to expand its
presence in the retail market.
The deal was just recently signed between the two companies and the decision to
enter into this partnership seems to nullify Will Hill’s previous attempts to
back out of the agreement. Both companies are enthusiastic about the prospects
of expanding into the land and online casino betting markets in Spain and this
new deal with Grupo Rubio will only solidify Victoria Apuestas’ position in the
burgeoning market. |
