Where Will it End?
The Bodog brand really has a bit of a bad-boy reputation thanks to all of the
antics and attitude that came out of the founder and CEO of the company, Calvin
Ayre. Ayre hit the US online casino gambling market pretty hard about a year ago
when the huge legal situation with First Technologies was heating up the
headlines. Not long after the legal situation had really and thoroughly
deteriorated, Ayre sold the US Bodog brand to a Canadian company and began to
set his sites on foreign markets. Ayre and the Bodog company made it back into
the headlines last month with the announcement that Bodog had secured a deal to
move into the Asian online casino gambling market.
And for his next seemingly random move, Ayre has announced that he is moving
into the coffee business according to information released in EGRmagazine. In
addition to the coffee business, Bodog is also looking to actually continue
building its online casino related brand with the launch of new media ventures
and a internet poker brand.
The new moves realign Ayre with the American Bodog brand that is operated out of
the soverign nation of the Kahnawake Mohawk tribe. The poker network will
apparently be run out of the Kahnawake licensing jurisdiction and will target a
very international base of internet poker players – this includes the UK and
Europe. Ayre is truly a franchising expert and there are many more details on
these latest ventures that will be covered in articles to come. |
