Online Casinos Facing Closure?
The Dawn Till Dusk land and internet gambling brand is suffering some setbacks
this month with the announcement that the poker-only land club is likely to be
shutting its doors this month as a result of the UK’s tax policies as they
effect land casinos. DTD has operated in the UK market for two years now and is
well received by the poker playing public because of the exclusive focus on the
game of poker –a truly great place for poker enthusiasts to test their skills
and compete against some real competition. The DTD operates as an online casino
gambling site in addition to the live poker room, there is no indication of
whether the closure of the DTD brand will effect the internet division.
DTD was launched two years ago, in 2007, as a solution to the fact that the UK
had no poker-only clubs open. Poker gamblers were forced to gamble at the land
and online casinos if they wanted to engage in some competitive poker tourneys
and the such. Other major betting companies in the UK market were cautious about
the opening of the club because of a new area for competition – at this point
though DTD remains one of the only of its kind in the market. Rob Yong is behind
the DTD company and he recently announced that there was a strong chance of the
live poker room closing its doors as a result of the VAT taxes and other fees
that the poker room was forced to pay because it held a casino license.
The economic recession likely had something to do with the closure because there
has been a drop in the amount of money that gamblers are spending at the land
and online casinos. Gamblers are still coming out to the poker room, but their
bank rolls are smaller and that means less money is being funneled into the
poker room. |
