China's Focus on Online Casinos
The Chinese government has not kept it much of a secret that the country has a
zero-tolerance policy when it comes to illegal online casino gambling and
betting. China actually uses the controversial method of ISP blocking technology
so that Chinese citizens cannot even view the questionable gaming sites. But, no
technology is every entirely flawless and the IP blocks only work on the major
online casinos that are trying to access the illegal Chinese market. The only
real way that internet gambling has been able to infiltrate the Chinese market
is through illegal betting rings that use the internet to place foreign bets for
gamblers all over China. As the number of these type of illegal betting rings
surged, the Chinese police responded with wide-scale raids and a huge crack-down
on all illegal land and online casino gambling activities.
There have been several high profile cases in the past year or so about the
illegal betting and online casino gambling rings that have been busted – all of
those involved have been used as examples and the Chinese courts are handing out
long prison sentences and some really hefty fines to the offenders. The issue of
illegal internet gambling is one of the chief concerns of the 21st Century
according to the police chief. The technology is only getting more and more
sophisticated and the Chinese government still stands strongly behind the notion
that most forms of land and online casino gambling are very negative and should
be blocked from the nation.
The Chinese task forces looking to really stop illegal online casino gambling
and betting note that billions of dollars are leaving the country still as the
gambling rings find ways to operate. There are several ring leaders that have
fled the country and are being sought by Interpol for their involvement in
illegal Chinese gambling. |
