Behavioral Internet Gambling Study: 1
The online casino gambling industry is a very big focus in the global community
right now and between international efforts and intense research begin conducted
in the United States, there are some interesting research findings and
conclusions that really could shape the way that the gaming companies appeal to
gamblers. A high-tech research company, Foviance, has announced the results of a
recent study that was conducted with the express purpose of identifying
subconscious decisions that are made by gamblers as they are gambling at the
online casinos. In addition, there is a special focus on uncovering the
reasoning and habit structure that motivates many of the decisions that online
gamblers make.
The study was primarily conducted with the PKR.com 3D online casino poker gaming
sites. The researchers monitored participants during their game play on five
main measures of emotional engagement: visual attention, cognitive attention,
emotional engagement, emotional attraction, and apprehension/excitement. One of
the conclusions that may startle habitual online casino gamblers is the fact
that many of the behaviors and emotions demonstrated during game-play are
entirely irrational given the specific circumstances at that time.
The founder of Foviance, Catriona Campbell, noted that this research is entirely
unique to Foviance and raises the understanding level of subconscious reasoning
at the online casinos. Campbell notes, “Using our neuro-technology to have a
deeper understanding of the emotional facet of the customer experience, we’ve
found we can deliver insight that other methods previously haven’t." The
conclusions from this research indicate that internet casinos should really
concentrate on the emotional appeal of the gaming sites if they are hoping to
really snag a gambler’s interest. |
