Safety Software for Youth
One of the biggest arguments against the online casino gambling industry is the
fact that underage gambling is still a problem in all markets, even those highly
controlled and regulated markets like the UK. Responsible gaming measures in the
UK have really tightened up the online casinos, and it isn’t exactly easy for
underage gamblers to access the internet gambling sites, but it does happen
despite the controls that are currently used at some gambling companies.
Additionally, asking the internet gambling sites to block underage gamblers puts
the whole weight of this major issue right on their heads. But that does not
have to be the case. The Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation has launched a new
software that is designed to enable parents to block questionable gaming sites
right from their home computers.
This new software, Betstopper, was developed by InternetSaftey.com at the
request of the NSGC to address the problem of underage gamblers accessing the
online casinos. The software is one of the first to be launched in the
international industry and certainly the first time that parents and home
computer users have a way to put content filtering controls on their home
internet use. The controls are specifically designed with control of the online
casinos in mind, so parents can password protect certain internet content from
their youth.
The great thing about this new software is that it adds another layer of
protection to the online casino gambling industry without actually involving the
major gambling companies. That is a very important feature considering the sheer
pervasiveness of the internet gambling industry. As new countries consider
legalizing the market, this is a great feature so that households opposed to
online gambling can choose to block content themselves. |
