Super Sized Concerns
The United States is in a recession right now. There is no denying this fact and
there is no overcoming the recession immediately. The entire world has felt the
impact of the US recession and a globally recessive economy has caused problems
in nearly every industry all over the world. Tourism is down in some countries,
the value of the currencies are fluctuating rapidly, and the online casino
gambling industry is struggling to adjust to the ever-changing regulations that
come out of the various nations that have yet to open a regulated and licensed
internet gambling industry. Throughout all of this though, the US media and
indeed many of the politicians are focusing on the wrong issues.
The economy is the key issue in the US right now and President Obama has really
focused a lot of his time and effort of stabilizing the US economy. At the same
time, there is also a lot of political effort going into the repeal of the
controversial UIGEA. The measures legalize and license online casinos in the US
market are serious and they are taking up a lot of time and money. The question
is, why isn’t this money being spent elsewhere? Obesity is a growing concern in
the US and is killing US citizens on a daily basis…but this hasn’t attracted
nearly the amount of media attention that can be found surrounding the online
casinos.
Even social security, job losses, health care and a variety of other issues
should be taking precedence right now – the online casino gambling issue has
gone on far to long considering the long-term outcome is a forgone conclusion.
The US has to eventually regulate and license the internet gambling industry or
face hefty fines and fees to pay to foreign governments. So instead of all of
the side-stepping of the issue, Congress needs to take note – SOLVE the online
casino gambling issue and move on to the real concerns that are facing the US
right now. |
