Online Casinos Boost Sunshine Budget
Reports are coming in from the United States that many of the state governments
are looking at some sectors of the online casino gambling industry as a
potentially lucrative way to bring more money into the state budget. There are
virtually no US states that are doing particularly well in terms of the state
budget, and everyone can benefit from a bit extra money coming in during these
tough economic times. The online casinos are blocked at the federal level, but
California may actually be one of the first states to actually legalize internet
poker within the state borders as a way to boost budget resources.
If the Golden State is doing it, the other coast, the Sunshine State is looking
at the example and also considering the legalization of online poker in the
state for the budget purposes. This would not be the first time that Florida,
the Sunshine State, chose to allow forms of gambling to help out the state
budget. The state lottery was implemented years ago as a way to boost the amount
of money available in the education budget. The state is apparently seriously
considering the possibility and has already authorized a complete study on the
subject in May of this year.
The study should be conducted rather quickly and have a detailed report ready
for the Florida Senate by the end of the year. There is some strong support for
these measures from the online casino gambling industry in addition to the
several major national poker organizations. There is a very strong chance that
the new legislation will pass –particularly if California has already passed new
online poker laws by that point. |
