The Hypocrites are Keeping it Back
Alright, this is going to be a pretty strong statement, but the hypocritical
religious right is keeping the online casino gambling industry from operating
effectively in the US market out of misguided principles and partly in
protection of land gambling interests. There have been countless reasons to
repeal the flawed and controversial UIGEA over the past nearly three years, but
the radical right seems to keep the issue either postponed or slightly shy of
winning enough votes by using scare tactics and false information. Senator Kyl
is one of the most outspoken Republicans on the online casino gambling issue and
he authored the UIGEA. He consistently pumps out misinformation to the public
about the alleged dangers that are associated with online gambling – dangers
that the land gambling industry apparently don’t have.
The Republican’s main stream of commentary and information on the online casino
gambling situation are a stream of unsupported claims about problem and underage
gambling and an increased risk for both of these. On the flip side, the
supporters of a free and open online casino gambling industry in the country are
forced to re-educate the public on the untruths presented by the right-wing
Republicans.
The rest of the world is even demanding that the United States change its policy
on online casino gambling to conform with international trade agreements, but
there has been very little movement on this. In addition to pressure from the
World Trade Organization, the European Union is seeking out dialogue with the US
Trade representatives so that positive legislative changes might take place in
regards to the US’s stance on foreign gambling sites accessing US players and
have equal rights to offer betting and poker gambling.
