Conceding to the Online Casinos
There is an undeniable strength building in the online casino gambling industry
as the various gambling related bills make it into Congress. Also, the
supporters of the internet gambling industry are really beginning to vocally
shout out their opposition to the UIGEA. Those supporters of the UIGEA, like
Spencer Bachus, have been forced to admit that they are losing ground in this
battle. The UIGEA blocks offshore online casinos and, according the to
anti-gambling advocates, the UIGEA protects the US children from the dangers of
internet gambling. This tired line though is becoming increasingly less
convincing these days and the movement to legalize and regulate online gambling
is gaining very real strength.
Bachus may concede that the pro-online casino gambling movement is gaining
strength, but that hasn’t altered his position one bit at this point and he
continues to assert some wild false statements about the internet gambling
industry. One of the funny things about Bachus, one of the chief supporters of
the UIGEA, is that he seems to think nothing of making exaggerated claims that
pull from erroneous data that has little pertinence to the US internet gambling
industry.
To take the whole situation a bit further, Bachus admitted to the sneaky way
that the UIGEA was passed through as an addition to the must-pass security act.
He notes that it took online casino gambling supporters by surprise as they just
weren’t expecting such a tactic – and it seems as though he’s proud of the
underhanded dealings…not something one would normally boast about. |
