Chandler Secures First
The European Commission has been hard at work over the past several years and
that hard work actually is showing in some regards throughout the European Union
as some countries with previously closed online casino gambling and betting
markets open the door to foreign operators. The licensing of internet betting
sites in Spain has been a long time in the works and the major international
betting operator, Victor Chandler, has announced that it very well may be the
first company to obtain licensing in the Spanish market.
The international bookmakers have certainly been competing for entry into the
Spanish market and Chandler will undoubtedly maintain a competitive edge of the
licensed sites that will later follow the company into the market. The Spanish
market is largely untapped because of strict national laws that have kept the
majority of internet gambling out of the country, this includes online casinos
and internet betting as well. But new regulations have been in development for
some time and Spain is nearly ready to issue gambling licenses to the foreign
online betting operators.
Victor Chandler’s pending license for Spain will allow the online casino
gambling and betting group to advertise within the Spanish market before there
is any additional competition from other sites. According to estimates by those
in the industry, the Spanish lucrative is worth millions; Madrid’s online
betting market alone is estimated at roughly 250 million. There is no timeline
for the deal but industry insiders believe it will happen within the next month
or two. |
