Uncertainty for Online Casinos
With a new year on the horizon and a slowing global economy the predictions for
the 2009 land and online casino gambling market are a bit questionable at best.
The land gambling industry has been the hardest hit over the past several months
and according to Spectrum Gaming, recovery will not be underway until 2010 at
the earliest. Spectrum Gaming annually releases a list of the Top 21 Trends in
Gaming predicted for the coming year. For 2009, the trends are overwhelmingly
dedicated to the unstable global economy and its affects on the land and online
casinos.
The trends though weren’t all dire, although the online casinos and land
gambling venues won’t experience a reprieve from the current financial situation
for another year, there are upsides and new trends that will soften the effect
of the slow global economy. One of Spectrum Gaming’s trends centered on the idea
that new technology in the land and online casino gambling industry will
continue to generate new revenue for the industry. Although fewer new gamblers
are choosing to gamble, those that still frequent the casinos are still
appreciate technological advances and new gaming options.
Additional trends include the continued globalization of the land and online
casino gambling industries. Many of the major companies have really begun to
refocus their efforts outside of the mainstream and traditional European market
and into South America and Asia. Spectrum Gaming notes that this trend will
continue into 2009 and as the companies globalize they are also refocusing on a
younger demographic of gamblers. |
