Land Gambling Industry Revolts: 2
Honestly though, this is just the sort of straight talking, no funny business
that is so widely respected in Obama. Executives have long abused the system,
taken enormously huge salaries, gone on luxury vacations to resorts and casinos
around Las Vegas – and all as business expenses. As the bailout process though
continues, Obama is going to get pretty tough on all of the business receiving
tax-payer dollars in the stimulus package. In the opinion of GambleCraft,
although it’s understandable that land casinos and resorts in Vegas could have
hoped for some new business as a result of the stimulus package, indicating that
corporations should be able to spend taxpayer dollars on a vacation to Vegas is
a bit much really.
There are all kinds of issues and controversy facing the Obama administration
and catching flack from the land and online casinos is just probably not one of
the priorities. Gambling in Las Vegas is one of those pastimes that is a
personal decision and although corporations have long-used the huge hotels and
resorts of Vegas as a reason for corporate retreats, that was on the
corporations dollar. Now that the tax-payers are footing the bill it’s a whole
different matter.
Obama is making great strides in reigning in the US’ big businesses that have
gotten far out of control in the past decade. His efforts are to be applauded
rather than scolded and protested. Yes, the land casinos are facing tough times
but it’s just baffling to think that Vegas resorts and gambling venues believe
that money from the stimulus package should be spent on The Strip. |
