A Lot to Say About Online Casinos: 2
Through the entire appeals and court processes though, some of the online casino
gambling companies can only sit back and wait for a firm conclusion. There is
really no telling how far the Kentucky State government plans to take this issue
– some speculate that it could make it to the State Supreme Courts before it is
over. The general consensus outside of Kentucky and within the online gambling
industry is that there is no possible way that the higher courts will side with
the state considering all of the negative implications of allowing one small
government to exercise the power of domain name seizure from foreign listed
internet casinos.
The Interactive Media Entertainment Association (iMEGA) is pretty heavily
involved in the situation in Kentucky. iMEGA looks out for the interest of the
online casino gambling and gaming industry and has supplied lawyers and
arguments to the cause over the past six months that this situation has been
going on. The online casinos have really needed all the support they could
muster considering how bleak it all looked when Judge Wingate largely sided with
the State lawyers in his ruling.
Now though the entire online casino domain name seizure situation has taken an
interesting (and not altogether negative) turn. The state is now not as focused
on merely seizing the domain names of internet gambling companies, but also on
taking iMEGA to court for its interaction in the domain seizure issue – the
state contends that iMEGA was outside of its right to get involved in the court
proceedings. |
