Will Hill Taking Bets
Speculation is rampant in the online casino gambling industry about the
legalization of online casino gambling in the United States. With a new
administration firmly in place many in the industry have renewed their hopes
that the US government will reverse its current position on internet gambling
and instead pass new legislation that regulates and licenses the online casinos.
And while the speculation is the water-cooler talk at internet gambling
companies everywhere, there is really no clear indication about what moves the
Obama administration plans to make in terms of changes to internet gambling
legislation. In fact, the issue is so neutral at this point that online betting
giant William Hill is offering even odds for anyone willing to place a bet on
whether the Obama administration will change gambling legislation during his
current term in office.
The issue is so divided because Obama himself has been very ambiguous about his
stance on online casino gambling in the United States. One major reason for the
ambiguity is the current economic crises that has the whole world on edge – the
pending passage of the US stimulus package has the new Obama Administration
working on overtime to fine tune and implement this important package…that means
that smaller issues that don’t have an strict timeline are pushed to the bottom
of the pile.
Some supporters of the online casinos though feel that the internet gambling
issue may make it to top priority if the Obama administration considers the huge
revenue potential that is available from legalized, licensed and regulated
internet gambling industry. The country’s budget could be nicely rounded out
with the taxation of gaming revenues – and not to say that this will negatively
target gamblers to solve the nation’s problems. In fact, many scholars and
politicians agree that a regulated industry is safest for the gamblers. |
