All Gamblers Migrating to Online Casinos

This is a frequent mantra for the land gambling industry in the past several years now that online casino gambling has really taken off all over the world. Gamblers don’t even have to leave the comfort of their home to take part in high quality gambling games and the potential to win huge sums of money. This has taken its toll on land casinos and interestingly enough, there is another sector of the gambling industry that is feeling the effects of increased internet gambling popularity – the cruise ship gambling industry. Cruise ship gambling was once a very popular option for gamblers residing in areas that have tough restrictions against land casino gambling – cruise ships are able to go offshore just far enough to offer legal gambling.

But now that gamblers have another option if they are not allowed land gambling, the cruise ship industry is reporting some pretty tough times. Online casinos are very hard to compete with and the gambling cruise ship lines are now in a tricky position – how do they entice gamblers back to the sea?

The issue is really cropping up in Florida right now as the cruise ships are petitioning the state government to alter the laws that prevent ships from offering gambling at port. Competition from the online casino gambling industry is a very real threat to the viability of this industry and apparently the government is considering lifting the current restrictions. There is one firm truth that that may be a hard pill for some of the operators to swallow – advancements in the online gaming industry mean a long-term decrease in market size for land and sea gambling venues.
