Video Lottery Market Opening
The state of Illinois has been one of the top US states petitioning for the
right to really expand land and internet gambling opportunities in the state.
Several US states are facing large recessionary concerns and state budgets are
failing. Those concerns have sparked debate about the viability of intra-state
online casino gambling and betting as a way to boost budgets and expand gambling
within the state. Illinois, while still aiming at expanding online gaming in
state, is currently in the process of launching a full video lottery terminal
gaming industry. These lottery terminals, 40,000 in total authorized for the
state, will be licensed to legal operators who have not been operating illegal
in the state.
That’s the main catch in the new implementation of video lottery terminals in
the state of Illinois, companies and business that have chosen to currently
maintain illegal operations will not be able to now operate the legal and
regulated video lottery terminals. The Illinois Gaming Board has every intention
of thoroughly researching each and every business that applies for a license to
operate the video lottery terminals. These terminals are actually an unrelated
but specific first step toward an online casino gambling industry within the
state. If the Gaming Board is able to accurately control and enforce regulation
on the lottery terminal industry it will speak well for further gambling
expansions in the state.
The big message here though is the fact that illegal gambling operations have
completely nullified any chance that these operators will obtain a legal license
and thus maintain competitive in the market. A wise note for the current US
online casino gambling industry; companies operating illegally right now will
likely not obtain licensing in the future.
