King Endorses Online Casinos
Barney Frank is the most notable name in the United States government right now
linked to a pro-online casino gambling campaign. Frank has given incredibly
vocal support of the internet gambling industry and the need for a new licensing
and regulatory structure in the US. Over the past three year Frank has steadily
built support in the US government and Congress for a pro-gambling regulation
bill that would usurp the controversial UIGEA and instead create a fully
licensed US online casino gambling market. Although Frank has more than 40
supporters and official backers on his bill, the support and endorsement of
Peter King may be just what Frank needed to push this new bill through into law.
King, a key NY Representative and former Chairman of the Homeland Security
Committee, has a lot of respect and sway in Congress. His opinion counts for a
lot because he has a long history in Congress and is still a ranking member in
the House. There has been talk over the past few years that Frank’s more
abrasive and pointed approach toward passing this new bill has alienated some
members of his own party, the Democrats. For this new legislation to pass and
end the current ban on offshore online casinos, Kings support will lend a needed
calm voice of reason.
King’s specialty is actually related to money laundering and terrorist financing
issues and his voice on these areas in particular hold a lot of weight within
both parties. King’s support for Frank’s online casino gambling comes from a
place of knowledge. King claims that there is no evidence whatsoever to support
claims that terrorist funding and money laundering are valid arguments to stop
the implementation of US internet gambling licensing. He notes that these are
not prominent concerns in a regulated gambling market and thus not a valid con
argument to Frank’s bill. |
