Another Decade of Online Casino Gambling
The past ten years within the online casino gambling industry can be related to
the explosive growth that children experience in the first ten years of life;
the industry has greatly matured and gone through numerous transformations and
redesigns that have created the industry that gamblers all over the world now
embrace as the face of the industry. But a real question this time of year is
where the online casinos are heading? The growth rates within the gambling
industry are still incredibly steady and the year-on-year growth of revenues
spent within the industry and new gamblers accessing the sites. Over the next
ten years, it is hard to predict what new technologies will develop and emerge
within the industry, but there are opportunities to examine the emerging markets
and the progress that the industry will have in creating international
regulations.
The online casinos are currently licensed out of a dozen or so licensing
jurisdictions that are scattered all over the four corners of the world. From
Malta to Curacao and with the Kahnawake Gaming Commission in Canada thrown in
for good measure, these licensing jurisdictions are amazing similar and yet
markedly different. One of the big pushes over the next decade will be for the
development of international standards that become the baseline with which all
new online casinos must qualify when they are launching into the industry.
And in addition to the move toward a cohesive set of minimum standards and
regulations, the online casinos are likely facing a several key battles in the
coming decade. The United States, China, Australia, and most of South America
are currently fighting the internet gambling industry despite an international
push for each country to honor trade commitments while protecting gamblers by
instituting full regulations rather than the ineffective bans for the
questionably ethical content filtering programs. |
