AGA Takes on Online Casinos

The American Gaming Association is the largest of its type in the United States; the association represents the interests of the US land gambling industry, most specifically the land casinos and resorts located in Las Vegas primarily as well as other key locations around the States. Over the past three years the AGA has taken a very hands-off and wait-and-see approach to the online casino gambling industry – an approach that stems from the general lack of direction and decision from the US land gambling industry. Land gambling companies are incredibly worried about the competition that a regulated and licensed online gambling industry would create, and as such the AGA stands in that same position – indecision leaning toward non-support.

Within the past six months though, the online casino gambling industry has really begun to gain some strong support within Congress and amongst US politicians. As the movement expands and grows closer to acceptance, the AGA’s most recent poll indicates that most people view the likelihood of new legislation passing very pessimistically. The view of industry insiders in general is not without its support, a lot of politicians now have joined the cause and want legalized online casinos in the US, but the growing view centers on so many of the other problems that Congress is facing right now.

The doubt shown amongst those polled is not heartening. Really, although the online casinos and supporters are trying to remain optimistic, the politicians just don’t think it’s going to happen – and without the support of major organizations like the AGA, it could still take an incredibly long time for new laws to pass in the US.
