What's Their Problem?
The National Football League in the United States is really starting to cause
some big problems for state governments that are interested in offering sports
betting through the land and online casinos as a way to boost state budgets.
Many US states have really suffered as a result of the current recession and the
expansion of the US land and internet gambling industry is seen as a positive
way for the individual states to generate money and fund their state programs.
There is a fine line though they have to tow with the federal ban on offshore
online casinos, and now, the NFL is causing even more problems for the state
governments under the assertion that individual state betting markets will
compromise the integrity of the game.
The truth of that assumption and assertion though has been hotly contested by
the international online casino gambling and betting companies. Although the NFL
is alleging that the state-run betting companies will lower the integrity of the
game, international companies assert that legalized and controlled betting has
actually positively impacting the sporting industries. The NFL is not hearing
any of that though and is actively pursuing the handful of US states now
alleging they are going to soon offer online casino sports betting.
The NFL’s planned actions include a major lawsuit against the states to prevent
any new land and online casino sports betting legislation from taking place. The
US states though – they are not phased by the NFL’s threats of a lawsuit, nor
the threats that the leagues will take away teams from the states that pass new
gambling laws. |
