More Support for Online Casino Bill
The online casino gambling issue is growing in popularity in Congress right now.
A lot of supporters of the internet gambling industry were dismayed last month
with the postponement of the discussion on Barney Frank’s new bills – postponed
until the fall the supporters are getting anxious. Barney Frank is one of the
chief supporters of the a regulated and licensed US online casino gambling
industry and his bill has slowly gained a lot of support over the past nearly
three years. And although debate and discussion on the bills has been postponed
in Congress for several months, his bills are still gaining support and
co-sponsors despite the lack of movement through Congress.
Barney Frank’s bill specifically looks to repeal the effects of the UIGEA and
instead license and regulate online casino gambling and betting in the US.
Accompanying bills would then allow the government to tax the online casinos and
collect the revenue from the gambling sites into the federal budget. The latest
news for Frank’s efforts contend that even more support is coming to light.
Frank has added to the list of co-sponsors for the bill, and coming in at 48,
that’s a whole lot of support that will definitely be needed once the bill does
actually make it up for discussion.
There is a lot of hope that this bill will pass by the end of the year. One of
the chief reasons that many Congresspersons are supporting this bill is not only
its implications for the US online casino gambling industry, but also because it
will allow the federal government to raise very significant tax revenue to flesh
out the failing budget.
