Refreshing for Online Casinos

There are a lot of things surrounding the US online casino gambling industry that are just a bit surprising. The first of the major surprises was the passage of the UIGEA in the first place nearly three years ago –that move was initiated by a conservative republican pushing an agenda to close the US market off to foreign competition and protect the US betting industries mainly. Now though, as the legalization and regulation of the online casino gambling industry is nearing, the republicans are full of even more surprises…namely the fact that they seem to be speaking the language of the left! Peter King, a republican from New York attended the Poker Player Alliance’s charity poker tournament and gave a really solid interview in support of the legalization of internet poker.

King is a known supporter of the efforts to legalize and regulate online casino and poker gambling in the US, he is actually one of Barney Frank’s co-sponsors for the bill that is in Congress right now and just awaiting the next Congressional session. King was quoted as noting that the essence of legalizing online casinos and poker in the US comes down to “individual freedom.” Now that’s a term the internet gambling likes to hear. A big argument for the repeal of the UIGEA is the fact that it unnecessarily censors the US citizens from accessing internet gaming under an perceived danger that does not actually exist.

King also was sure to note that he really feels that the efforts to legalize and regulate the US online casino gambling market are right on track. That is not to say that there is any timeline – because there is just no way to know that, but King commented to the PoketFives internet gambling portal that he feels that there is some very real progress being made.
