The online casino gambling industry has not had a warm welcome in Russia latelyl as the Russian government is looking to really crack down on the prevalence and influence of gambling in the country. The current Russian government even went so far as to really curb the availability of land gambling in the country and all land gambling venues have been pushed out of the major cities and are now only able to operate in more remote areas. With that in mind, it is going to be a tough road for the online casino hoping to enter the Russian market and tap into all of the Russian gamblers now eagerly turning to the internet for their gambling fun.

The future of a Russian online casino gambling industry is not looking very likely though now that the Russian Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Tourism has announced that the game of poker will no longer be classified as a game of sport in the country. This is a sore subject in the land and internet poker gambling industries. Poker players and even many mathematicians and research supports the notion that poker is a game of skill and should therefore not be lumped in with the online casinos.

The game of poker has previously held this distinction in Russia for some time now, but with the new decree that the game is no longer a sport, the land and internet poker industry is doomed to be pushed out of the cities just like the land casinos.
