Both Parties Join
There really isn’t a whole lot that both parties in the United States agree on –
but the online casino gambling issue is emerging as one of the topics drawing a
wide range of bipartisan support. Really, the only people not currently
supporting efforts to legalize the US internet gambling market is the
conservative right. The really right-wing republicans that are not only against
a legalized internet gambling market in the US, but they are so dead set against
it that they are willing to repeat untruths and lies to hopefully sway the
public to their side. But the facts speak for themselves and the conservatives
spouting the addictive dangers of internet gambling are quickly silenced and
proven false with research from respected and unbiased Universities and research
centers.
The fact is simple, both the republicans and democrats are coming together on
this issue and are supporting the notion that the United States would be best
served on many levels by new and inclusive internet gambling legislation.
Specifically, legislation that calls for the licensing of offshore online
casinos, the regulation of these sites and the taxing of revenue generated from
the internet gambling issue. The US has created a bit of a political chasm over
the past several years with the protectionist internet gambling policies and
there is now bipartisan support for Barney Frank’s internet gambling bill that
would repeal the UIGEA and realign the US policies with foreign trade
commitments.
Bipartisan support is really the key now to the passage of Frank’s bill and the
hope for some swift changes in the US online casino gambling industry. Even
highly conservative republicans like Texas Representative Joe Barton is on board
with the attempts to legalize internet gambling and use the funds to support the
federal government. |
