An Island Party
There has been a lot of movement in the European online casino gambling industry
these days as the gambling companies are shifting not only their development and
expansion plans, but also their actual headquarters. The state of the UK’s tax
regulations on internet gambling companies has finally really frustrated the
gambling industry and the sites are actively moving out of the UK licensing
jurisdiction and into other jurisdictions. The island nation of Gibraltar is
expecting a significant increase in revenue over the next couple of years as
highly profitably companies such as William Hill and Ladbrokes move their
headquarters and the thrust of their internet business onto the islands.
And the UK companies are not the only online casino gambling companies with a
taste for island life. Ladbrokes and Will Hill are joining a dozen or so of the
top gaming names in the industry on the island. Party Gaming is licensed and
operates out of Gibraltar as does the highly popular 32Red. These companies have
all flocked to licensing jurisdictions such as Gibraltar and the Isle of Mann
because of the more favorable tax regulations. And, the reputation of these two
licensing jurisdictions is still impeccable. Ladbrokes is not sacrificing any of
the companies integrity with the decision to move to the island from the UK
because Gibraltar is highly respected for the jurisdictions tight regulations
that meet and exceed industry standards.
For that reason the next several months will see a few changes in the regulatory
and licensing framework in the online casino gambling industry as major
companies such as Ladbrokes and Will Hill make major shifts for better tax
regimes. |
