Internal Online Casino Rages

The online casino gambling situation in the European Union really continues to rage on without an end in sight really. The EU is in a very sticky situation right now where the Union looks a bit hypocritical as it tries to resolve the internet gambling situation with the US while also attempting to create a level playing field in the EU that is free from state gambling monopolies. The EU is supposedly attempting to create a unified and ideal gambling environment for online casinos, but the system is not working effectively right now and there is a fair bit of chaos as the European Commission is working on negotiating with the nations in non-compliance.

The fact that the EU online casino gambling industry is so chaotic really undermines the EU’s authority as it makes demands of the United States. The US has some very controversial policies in place that contravene trade laws laid out by the World Trade Organization, but there is really no enforcement power to the WTO right now. For that reason, the EU is hoping that negotiations will progress positively with the US about international online casinos despite the conflicts within the EU.

The EU really needs to act aggressively, and soon, if it has any hopes of maintaining credibility in the eyes of the international online casino gambling industry. As the situation stands right now, the fact that the EU does not have a handle on its own market is giving the US Trade Representatives just one more reason to dismiss the EU requests and demands for a different US approach to the international internet gambling industry.
