Put Up Your Dukes
The online casino gambling industry is ready to fight the big battle this year
and there is hope throughout the industry that Barney Frank’s bill will win
enough support to repeal the controversial and flawed UIGEA and regulate and
license the US gambling industry. Annie Duke was present and ready to step up to
the occasion at last month’s National Poker Week. Duke not only attended this
huge event that took place in Washington, D.C. and was present at the events,
but she was lobbying hard and spoke to many politicians and members of Congress
about the internet poker gambling issue.
Annie Duke is a big name in the online casino poker gambling industry, as a
poker professional she has the celebrity and the sway to make a fair bit of
difference with her support. The Poker Players Alliance is the main organization
pushing efforts to inform and notify members of Congress about the pending
internet gambling situation and Duke came out to the PPA’s event to help spread
the word. Interestingly enough, Duke is feeling pretty confident that Barney
Frank’s bill has more support than the last time it went before Congress.
The slowing US economy has played a part in growing support for the efforts to
legalize the US online casino gambling industry. But knowledge has also played a
key part. The PPA and a lot of internet poker gambling supporters have lobbied
hard to get out the message that poker is a game of skill and should not be
banned in the US. |
