PPA Supports Charity
The Poker Players Alliance in a powerful organization in the United States that
is wholly and fully committed to getting online casino poker gambling legalized
and regulated in the United States. The PPA has been very active in the US over
the past three years that the UIGEA has been in effect and infringing on the
rights of US gamers to play poker through the internet. One of the chief efforts
of the PPA has been growing awareness of the issue and bringing attention to the
UIGEA and it’s block on not online casinos, which are a game of chance, but
internet poker, which is a game of skill according to a growing consensus of
national governments all over the world.
The latest PPA hosted event was in a wrap up to the National Poker Week
festivities. The National Poker Week is a now annual event designed to descend
upon Washington with online poker gambling supporters. The charity function at
the end of last month’s poker week was a prime opportunity for the PPA to invite
out politicians and supporters of the efforts to legalize online casino poker
gambling in the US. The charity poker tournament benefited the USO in
Metropolitan Washington and was designed to not only support the purposes and
agenda of the PPA in the online casino gambling industry, but to bring awareness
to a great cause that needs support.
The event was a success and raised US $35,000 in charitable funds. Of that
money, $10,000 was raised from the actual charity poker tournament itself and
the other $25,000 was a donation made on behalf of the PPA. There is speculation
all throughout the online casino gambling industry that new legislation is
nearly ready to find passage in the US and the PPA’s current efforts are
designed to keep the issue on the minds of politicians so that it can find a
speedy resolution. |
