Does Alcohol Play a Part?

New research coming out of the United States seems to indicate that the online casinos may actually be a safer vehicle for gambling than the brick and mortar gambling establishments. The research does not go so far as to indicate why that may be, but internet gambling is one of the hottest topics in the US right now and the safety of the online casino gambling sites is one of the chief concerns that is batted around as a reason to continue blocking and banning foreign gambling companies. But with the indication that internet gambling sites are actually safer than land venues, it begs the question why? One possible answer comes down to the alcohol factor and the high that comes from actually being at the land casinos and gambling in the moment.

The land casinos are built to foster an exciting environment where possibilities abound and gamblers only have to pull the level on the slot machines or throw the dice to possibly win a lot of money. The online gambling sites are similarly designed and the gambling sites are certainly hoping that gamblers will be pulled into the experience and feel similar thrills like they would at the land venues…but they likely don’t. Gambling at online casinos is just different from land gambling. Land venues ply free liquor and booze on the gamblers and make the environment as hospitable as possible so that gamblers will get cozy and keep on spending funds.

But gambling at home is a different experience. The alcohol is self-supplied and likely a lesser number of gamblers at the online casinos are intoxicated while they are making decisions and monitoring their bankroll. It doesn’t take a degree in rocket science to know that inebriated gamblers gamble less responsibly. This is a possible and likely reason for the discrepancy in safety between the land and internet gambling sites.
