Returned Online Casino Domain
The debacle between the Bodog Entertainment online casino gambling group and
First Technology has resurfaced this week with the announcement that Bodog has
retrieved its domain name despite the previous court ruling that gave First
Technology access to, and control over, the main Bodog.com domain. The two
companies seem to have come to a settlement in the long-running dispute that has
been going on for at least two years at this point. As a result of the
settlement agreement, Bodog will payout a judgment to First Technology and in
return has received the Bodog domain name back from the technology company. One
of the main reasons that this situation was able to find an amiable conclusion
is thanks to the new management at Bodog.
Founder and former CEO, Calvin Ayres was not budging on the issue and refused to
enter into discussions and settlement negotiations with First Technology for
patent infringement allegations that refer to a specific online casino gambling
industry technology. Now though, under the guidance of the Morris Mohawk Gaming
Group, and the leadership of Alwyn Morris, the group’s CEO, a agreement was
managed and Bodog now, once again, has control over the company’s strong brand
and signature gaming site.
The decision to come to a settlement was purely business related according to
Bodog – the online casino gambling group needed to obtain use of the main Bodog
site domain name once again and for that reason sought out negotiations with
First Technology. It seems, in this case, the Morris’ more level headed and
professional strategy for finding a suitable conclusion to the dispute was most
effective for both parties involved. |
