Online Casino Coming to Nova Scotia
There are several countries in the world that have just struggled with the
notion of regulation of the online casinos rather than either closed and banned
markets or the much more dangerous free-for-all. Internet gambling in Canada is
actually illegal although the legislation is not enforced throughout the
country. One of the major problems facing the Canadian government is the
government’s hesitancy in dealing with the Mohawk tribe’s activities of
licensing international online casinos. There is speculation that the Kahnawake
Gaming Commission is in violation of Canadian gambling legislation but there has
been no consensus on this alleged violation. And throughout all of this
confusion, smaller areas of Canada, like Nova Scotia, are looking for
opportunities to legalize forms of internet gambling, specifically internet
poker.
Legalized online poker is still a bit of a ways off in Eastern Canada, but
efforts made with Nova Scotia mean that the possibility of legalized gambling
are more than ever. Regulation is really the only way of handling the online
casinos that makes a bit of sense. Because of the current economy some
governments and organizations are pushing hard for the legalization of internet
gambling as a way to fund the state coffers and bring in more revenue to the
country. This is certainly the case in Canada, the state lottery has considered
the profitability of online sportsbetting and is likely to push this issue with
the government officials.
Only through addressing the government’s short comings and ineffective
legislation can there be positive changes. There is still no indication that
online casino poker is being well-received by the government, but those in
support of legal internet gambling plan to press the issue until a satisfactory
results is concluded. |
