No Interference from Online Casinos

Over the past couple of months there have been a couple of incidences in the European marketplace that have sparked controversy in the international sporting industry. Legislators and sports enthusiasts have long wondered in the ability of online casinos and betting companies to advertise and sponsor teams as interfered with the integrity of the game in the UK. The UK Gambling Commission gives the answer as a resounding “no” now that a study has concluded concerning the effect of sportsbetting on the outcome and honesty within the sporting industry. That doesn’t mean that reports have stopped coming in though – the Commission noted that although there are frequent “tips” and complaints about illegal sporting match results, most of the claims have been found unsubstantiated.

The online casinos and internet gambling venues are quite fastidious about ensuring that they keep the politics and corruption out of the sportsbetting industry. In addition to the UK Gambling Commission, the individual internet betting companies are very quick to investigate any and all reports of suspicious sports betting activities. According to the results reported by the Commission, although there are more than 50 cases reported, only half of those were even seemingly legitimate and of those only a few are thought to actually have potential merit.

All of this though is to say that the UK Gambling Commission feels that the online casino gambling industry has not altered the integrity of the sporting games in the UK, and the rest of the world. Because of the very serous implications that would come from negative internet betting interference, the Commission as well as the punters and sports players themselves continue to remain on the alert.
