Forced from Home
Norwegian land and online casino poker gamblers are taking refuge in the UK this
week as a result of the Norwegian government’s continued actions to block
several forms of gambling in the country – including poker. Norway has a huge
poker playing population and many of the land and online casino poker pros have
hailed from this snowy country. Though there is a huge viable market for online
casino and poker gambling in the Norwegian market, the government chooses to
uphold outdated laws that were essentially written before the online gambling
industry became popular and certainly without consideration for the skillful
nature of the game of poker. For this reason, the poker players in country have
embraced the gambling regulations in UK and stage their poker tournaments in
Nottingham and other nearby locations.
The most recent tournament for the Norwegian land and online casino poker
gambling pros was quite competitive and came right down to a pretty riveting
final table. The recent tournament was a biggie for the Norwegian gamblers –
taking place in Nottingham, UK at the Dusk Til Dawn poker club, the best from
the land and online casinos participated in the Norwegian Poker Championship
2009. The winner of the tournament, Henrik Tollefsen, took home the title of
Champion in addition to the $124,000 in winnings.
Surprisingly enough, even though the land and online casino poker players had to
travel some distance from their homes to participate, there was a lot of
enthusiasm and a large field of poker entrants. |
