Online Casinos Question Effectiveness
Australia has been having some very serious debate in the past several months
about the way that the government plans to enforce censorship of the internet in
the country. Online casinos are just one of the industries that are in danger of
a complete shut-out if the government truly implement what many are calling
flawed attempts to filter internet content in the country. Internet betting is a
huge industry in Australia and even that one the government has taken some
issue. Mostly though it’s the online casinos and other “questionable” industries
that will face filtering if the government succeeds in this internet censorship.
Through it all though there are some very serious concerns from completely
unrelated industries that fear that content filtering the internet as a way to
block online casinos will only backfire on all of the internet based content.
Basically, although the government claims that human error was to fault for the
Bill Henson situation, others claim that this is just the first of many human
and computer errors and flaws that will severely restrict civil liberties.
The idea of net censorship as a way to block online casinos and undesirable
sites has caused some massive debates all over the world as Reporters Without
Borders watches the situation as it develops to ensure that the new filtering
laws will not adversely affect the idea of freedom of speech and other basic
civil rights that are supposed to be a given in first world countries like
Australia, but are currently under attack apparently. |
