Possible Merger Announced
There has been a good deal of speculation in the online casino gambling industry
about the rumored merger talks surrounding GigaMedia. Giga is a pretty prominent
name in the internet gambling industry and in recent weeks the company has
announced that merger plans are in the works – but up until now there has been
no indication of which companies have expressed an interest in merging with the
Giga brand. The newest announcement out of the company though indicates that
Giga and PartyGaming are in talks for a merger. PartyGaming is a giant in the
online casino gambling industry and Giga, though a much smaller brand, has a
strong reputation and a reliable brand name – for that reason there are few who
were surprised by the announcement that the two companies were in talks.
As for GigaMedia, as the speculation in the online casino gambling industry
swirls, some numbers are finally making into the papers as well. Apparently,
Giga is worth a reported $363 million on the current market. This, naturally, is
not the full price that a company would pay to acquire or merge with the Giga
gambling group – it is instead a starting point for discussions. PartyGaming
runs some of the most lucrative online casinos and internet poker rooms in the
world – and the merger with Giga would additionally supply PartyGaming with yet
another prominent gambling site, Everest Poker.
Everest Poker is the flagship product for GigaMedia – the site has slowly grown
over the past couple of years and boasts a loyal following of internet gamblers.
It seems as though the PartyGaming online casino gambling group is the
frontrunner in the acquisition process although a spokesperson for Giga has
indicated that the company is actually in discussions with other online gambling
companies as well. At this point PartyGaming is just waiting for the full
funding approval process takes place before the acquisition deal is finalized. |
