Regulations Achieve Safety
Supporters of the online casino gambling industry have taken really aggressive
approaches to stating their case and asking the US government to consider new
regulations for the market. A more measured and pointed approach though may be
more effective. The US market is currently suffering because of the lack of US
regulations – it’s a bit of a no-man’s land as the reputable online casinos
leave the market and only some of the smaller providers remain in the market and
risk DoJ legal action. The current market suffers terribly because of a sore
lack of regulations – regulations in the online casino gambling industry are
essential for providing safety to the internet gamblers and the operators as
well.
The internet is a fairly new medium and as such there are some definite problems
and kinks that have not been solved. One of these is fraud protection. The major
online casinos often have some of the best fraud protection methods of all of
the internet based operations, but at the same time, federal regulations would
ensure that these companies are using the best software and technology on the
market as a way to safeguard gamblers.
Additionally, if the US government is concerned with underage gamblers accessing
the US market then regulation is the key, not the current unregulated mess that
has little rules or structure. The UK government has proven that thorough
regulations are an effective way to prevent underage gamblers from accessing
online casinos. The same is largely true with problem gambling – effective
regulation will not stop the problem, but will provide the most safety to the
gamblers. |
