Wrongly Targeting the Online Casinos
Statistics out of Poland about the level of internet gambling among Poles are
highly questionable and there are few in the industry who lend much credence to
the media reports coming out of the country. Online casinos operate within the
global market and heavily target European countries right now because of the
more lenient and liberal EU policies related to internet gambling. But at the
same time, while there are a lot of Poles living in Poland and throughout the
rest of the world, it seems highly unlikely that claims from Dziennik Usaw about
the prevalence of Polish problem gambling could possibly prove accurate.
Dziennik reported that one out of every five gamblers in the global online
casino gambling market are of Polish origin…really? I mean, Poland is that large
and what does of Polish origin mean then…a tad bit of Polish blood? Dziennik
does not provide any additional statistics to back up the claims that gambling
at the online casinos is becoming a problem in the country for Poles. There is
actually no additional statistics, nor information on how the key 1 out of 5
statistic was determined, which leads many to believe that there may be a bit of
a problem with stretching the facts.
Online casino gambling is surging all over the world, but Poland only opened up
its internet gambling market roughly four years ago so it is statistically
implausible that so many Polish gamblers are heading to the internet gambling
sites. And with the discrediting of that statistic, there is no way of knowing
if there is any truth to the Dziennik’s claims that problem online casino
gambling is also on the rise…perhaps in the coming months Dziennik will back up
that claim with some legitimate statistics.
