Tweaking the Bills
The online casino gambling bills that are currently sitting for consideration by
the 110th session of Congress are not likely to even see the light of day this
time around – and that is actually a pretty good deal for the internet gambling
industry. The US has controversial blocked offshore online casinos from the US
market for nearly two years and with a new administration non the way in, many
senators and members of Congress are much more hopeful about the fate of the
industry when the Democrats take office. The latest news from the Pokers Player
Alliance indicates that most in the online gambling industry assumes that there
will be no new legislation and bills making it through this current
Congressional session.
Congress has hundreds of issues and bills on the docket for this current
Congressional session, but with the session coming to a close in just the next
couple of weeks, there are many that simply will not make the cut. There has
been a lot of controversy in the online casino gambling industry surrounding the
rumors that some right wing politicians are looking to sneak in new legislation.
John Pappas though, the head of the PPA, merely noted that those supporters of
legalizing online casinos and internet poker are focusing on the three internet
gambling related bills that will be submitted for the next Congressional session
– one that will occur once the Democrats are in control.
Pappas remarked that he would be lending his expertise on the online casino
gambling industry to consult on the new bills and ensure that they are written
and structured with the idea of Congressional passage in mind. |
