Specifics of the Program
The airing of the 60 Minutes program could have an adverse effect on the
internet gambling industry is the show airs while the US economy is still
performing dismally. Considering the slumping economy gamblers have already
begun to limit their time at the online casinos and poker sites, and the planned
program may just make the situation regress for a bit. Additionally, since the
documentary filmed there has also been additional information uncovered about
the Ultimate Bet online casino poker case and there is no indication whether the
name of the alleged perpetrator will appear in the show when it does finally
air.
60 Minutes filmed parts of the episode many months ago and for that reason the
online casino gambling industry has at least some idea of the aim of the program
and some of the information contained in the episode. Those who have come
forward as individuals who permitted the crew to interview them on tape include
some prominent personalities from the land and online casinos as well as poker
pros. A few of the names include: Mike Sexton, Gary Wise, Linda Johnson, Michael
Josem, and others. These individuals are either knowledgeable about the land and
online casino poker gambling industry or they directly involved with the case
(investigators and the such).
In addition to the 60 Minutes piece that is set to air next month, the
Washington Post may also release a piece on the subject of the online casino
poker gambling industry. All of the attention on the internet gambling is
certainly unwelcome by the sites themselves and all of the attention will
undoubtedly hurt Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker once again until the storm of
media attention once again blows over. |
