A Bright Side
The online casino gambling industry has taken heart this week with the news that
a piece of legislation from the Clinton’s time in office could very well reverse
some of the more controversial of Bush’s legislation that happened at the end of
2008. Both the environmental agencies as well as the online casinos have been
appalled by the rushed legislation, or “midnight drops” that are rampant in
recent weeks. The controversial UIGEA legislation passed through just last week
much to the outrage of many in the online gambling industry. But the
Congressional Review Act of 1996 allows the new administration to review all of
the legislation that were rushed through by the previous administration.
This is great news for the online casinos and the banking industry as well; the
rushed passage of the UIGEA regulations could have a truly negative affect on
the banking industry at a time when the financial services sectors ought to be
focused on repairing the market rather than focusing on blocking ambiguous
illegal internet gambling sites. With a Democratic controlled House and Senate
and a Democrat in the White House, there is the distinct possibility that the
UIGEA regulations will be reversed – something that is now much anticipated by
the online casino gambling industry.
So what precisely will it take to reverse the passage of the UGIEA regulations
as well as some of the more controversial legislation that just passed through
regarding the environment? Basically the process is pretty simple and it will
just take a party-line vote. That’s it. With a simple vote and the support of
the Democratic party, the online casino gambling industry could see their luck
looking up. |
