There's a Ban?
The online casino gambling ban in the United States has really had very little
affect on the actual blocking of internet games for many Americans. In fact,
some gamblers in the US are blessedly unaware of all of the drama, conflict, and
controversy that surrounds the US internet gambling market. It’s actually pretty
interesting that some of the foreign online casinos have been hit extremely hard
by internet gambling ban while other companies simply found a way around the
UIGEA for now and continue to offer a high quality gaming experience for nearly
any gambler in the US.
In recent weeks though there seems to have been a bit of an awakening for the US
internet gamblers and the online casinos themselves. The US government under the
Bush administration is really looking to firm up the enforcement regulations for
the UIGEA despite the fact that the regulations are far from completed. Couple
that with the recent implementation of geo-blocking technology at Microgaming
powered online casinos, and internet gambling is about to get a whole lot
harder.
But you know, that may not be a bad thing. The problem with the US online casino
gambling market is largely that the opponents of internet gambling shout louder
than the voices of those individuals supporting an open market. The more voices
protesting the effects of the UIGEA and the US general policy on internet
gambling, the more likely it is that Congressmen like Barney Frank and Robert
Wexler will affect the change that is so needed right now within the US’s online
gambling policy. |
