Tricky Poker Blocks
Many countries are finding that fully blocking forms of online casinos gambling
is quite hard in this day and age. The fact is, with new technology always
finding its way onto the market and the pervasiveness of the Internet, banning
and blocking gambling sites is largely ineffective (to see a perfect example
just look to the U.S.’s current dilemma). But for all of those hardships, there
is one innovative way that the Finnish government is considering implementing
that would certainly deter online casinos from accepting Finnish gamblers.
Basically, a report released earlier this year observed that Finnish online
casinos gamblers are losing large amounts of money to foreign gambling companies
– to the tune of Euro 50 million each year. The reported surmised that the
Finnish government should pass legislation that would allow Finns to claim back
their losses at the online casinos – a move that would then make the Finns an
undesirable target for the offshore gambling companies, as well as providing
motivation for the credit card companies to block the transactions.
The report – or rather an academic research study actually commissioned by the
Finland’s Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, was not an entirely broad look
at the online casinos gambling and betting industry, but did certainly provide
an innovative idea for stopping undesired internet gambling activities.
An obvious “elephant in the room” at this point is the question of who would pay
for the players looking to recoup their losses. Well, either the actually online
casinos gambling sites themselves, or more likely the credit card companies
would be forced to pay back the amount. That way, both the credit card companies
and the undesired online gambling sites would have motive to eliminate the
activity. |
