Bwin is Non-Committal
With the South African online casinos gambling industry all but finalized at
this point international internet gambling companies are beginning to show
interest in the region. The planned legislation that would legalize the
licensing and regulation of the South African online casinos gambling industry
is currently on the path toward passing – there are firm plans to pass the
legislation once all of the kinks are worked out. And with the announcement of a
new a potentially lucrative gambling market, many online casino gambling
companies are preparing to enter the market, while others are much more hushed
about plans to enter the market. Bwin Interactive Entertainment in particular
has declined to comment either way on whether the company will seek a South
African gaming license.
Just a few weeks about the Business Report publication out of South Africa
headlined the accurate announcement that Victor Chandler has plans to operate
online casinos, poker gambling, and betting in the region once the legislation
passes through the government. On the other hand though, Bwin would not validate
reports that ran in the Bloomberg business news concerning the company’s plans
to also enter the South African online casinos and betting industry.
A Bwin spokesperson, Kevin O'Neal, remarked on the speculation, “I would not
like to comment. We like to keep things under wraps until we are ready, for
competition reasons.” Bwin is a major player in the international online casinos
gambling and betting industry and most would expect that the company will
similarly show interest in the potential for significant money to be made in the
South African market. |
