A Day of Assessment
The online casinos gambling industry joined together last month to usher in a
day of intense focus on the idea of responsible gambling practices at internet
gambling sites. The European Parliament, industry representatives, research
analysts and specialists, and politicians from all over Europe joined together
at the European Parliament for the first annual “Responsible Gaming Day.”
Responsible gambling practices is a theme that has been repeated over and over
throughout the industry as a cornerstone of maintaining the longevity of the
online casinos gambling industry.
The “Responsible Gaming Day” was designed as a way to bring all together all of
the European Union to join in on taking a united approach to combating problems
in the online casinos gambling industry like underage, problem gambling, and
even state-run monopolies. The EU is currently battling against the state-run
monopolies as a matter of enforcing EU free-trade policies. The event was
designed so that online casinos gambling operators – even those perhaps
supporting gambling monopolies, could see that the same protective effects found
in government-run monopolies could be affected with proper regulation,
enforcement, and cooperation.
The event looked at ways that the online casinos gambling operators and the
government could work together to actively find solutions to some of the ongoing
problems related to preventing problem and underage gamblers from exploitation
at the internet gambling sites. The Managing Director GamCare, Andrew Poole,
noted, “There needs to be shared responsibility to minimise underage gaming.
Consistent regulation across jurisdictions and proper education are key in
achieving an effective industry-wide response to underage gaming.” That was a
key point that many of even the online casinos gambling companies supported –
the need of a joint collaborative approach to combating the problem.
